Girls School Screamers (1985)

GIRLS SCHOOL SCREAMERS (1985)

Dir: John P. Finnegan

A Troma supernatural slasher film that is so poorly acted but with interesting enough kills to almost get you through. The background story features a pervy uncle who’s also the patron for a girls school. When his attempts to fornicate with his niece don’t work to his favor, he kills her. Many years later, the pervert is dead, and the girls school now owns the house. A select number of the girls are chosen to take inventory within the Victorian mansion, but the presence of the pervert’s ghost seeks to make one of them his undead bride.

This is one of those unfortunate slasher and supernatural hybrids that were mostly seen in the late 1980’s after the popularity of Nightmare On Elm St. (1984). Unlike Nightmare, this film was made by a first-time filmmaker with a first-time cast. And it shows as first-rate trash. I wished for more. A diamond in the rough. The reality of the film is that it takes forever to get to a kill. And all our actresses are interchangeable; not a single one is distinguishable from another. This isn’t necessarily in the writing. I believe each of them had the idea that they were ‘the star of the show.’ Unfortunately, none of them were the star. Without the blood, there’s no reason to sit through this film. With the blood, it’s still really difficult to make your way through the monotonous plot.
